Medits 97
Each of the regional teams has produced a biological analysis of the results obtained in their area during the Medits 97 survey. To make easier the comparison between the years, this analysis is presented suing the same references as for the previous ones. Particularly, all the analysis are based on biomass and abundance estimates by species and by geographical strata. All the teams calculated their standard statistical estimates using the same specific software (Souplet, 1996).
Using the same estimates, a common analysis of the survey results has been done during a general meeting (Madrid, 6-8/11/97). This analysis includes general considerations on the reference species biomass at the scale of the whole survey as far as a preliminary analysis of the year to year biomass variations pointed out for some of the main species in the main regions.
This report presents successively the results obtained at these two levels. The document is completed by a series af tables and figures related to the biomass/abundance indices and length frequency distributions of the species included in the reference list.
