The Medits programme is conducted owing to the financial support from the European Commission (DG XIV) and the following partners, the IEO for Spain, the IFREMER and the Territorial Collectivity of Corsica for France, the Italian Minister of forest, agricultural and food resources (DG fisheries and aquaculture) for Italy as well as Slovenian, Croatian and Albanian areas, the N CMR for Greece.

In 1998 and 1999, the Medits project was plainly managed according to the bottom trawl surveys organized each year during the spring period. As the Medits co-ordination committee watched over to encourage the spreading of results as fast as possible, the activity of the group was strongly planned on a yearly base, including a yearly analysis of the results, survey by survey. This report goes back to this organisation, with a couple of documents for each year (technical and biological reports). At the beginning of each yearly technical report, a general presentation highlights the outstanding actions executed during the year. It is foreseen that this presentation will facilitate the following of the tasks carried out during the two years of the project.
